In ECI 524, Theory and Research in Global Learning, Dr. Lee helped us explore the ideas and research behind global learning and pushed us to apply that knowledge to our own classrooms.

Dr. Lee challenged us to identify a real-life or fictional character that represents or reflects aspects of cosmopolitanism as studied in our reading of Cosmopolitanism by Kwame Appiah. We were to interview this person- or construct a fictional interview- and create a biography that highlights the cosmopolitan characteristics of their life experiences or theory of life. I used the tech tool Voice Thread to make my project about Malala Yousafzai because I think she is a present-day hero and proof that cosmopolitanism is not defined by someone's age.

Dr. Lee also required us to create a Global Learning Project-Based Inquiry Unit that we could use in our own classrooms to engage our students with global learning and research. We came up with a unit topic, compelling question, learning objectives, general plan for the PBI, specific description of learning activities, and assessment plan. Finally, we were required to publish our unit online using technology. This was my first experience building a website using the tool Weebly!
